More felt hair clips

I said I was working on some more felt hair clips,so here they are! These were even easier than the first ones I made but they require more die cuts which luckily I already had in my stash.
Isn't this one cute?

For this tutorial I am going to make a blue flower with grey leaves because I ran out of green felt...

For this flower you can use the bitty blossoms die cut set from Spellbinders or just make your own rolled flowers, there are lots of tutorials online.
I cut out the biggest flower and the double leaf using my Grand Calibur.
Roll the flower and put glue (I used my hot glue gun) all over the end circle.
then glue the leaf to the bottom of the rolled flower.
Open the hair clip and put glue all over the top just like in the picture and then glue it to the bottom of the flower making sure that the clip wont be seen from the top once it's glued down.
I love this little gray one! Lucky for me Megan wasn't too busy today to try on the new hair clips;)

Felt clippies

The other day my sister in law asked me if i'd make some felt clippies for her girls, I had never heard of those before since I dont actually live in the states so I looked on-line and I've been hooked ever since! These little cuties are so quick and easy to make. I had everything I needed at home at least to start off. I'll be sharing how I made the little hair clips from the picture below.

For the first flower you'll need a simple hair clip (these are so cheap and come in packs of 6 or more). 4 felt circles (I used my die cutting machine to cut these), the biggest circle is 4.5cm. You'll also need a decorative button and two leaves.
I have this foliage die set from Spellbinders which is perfect for cutting out the little leaves for the flowers.
I used a glue gun to assemble the flowers. add a small drop of glue to the center of each circle and stack them biggest to smallest. then glue the little leaves to the bottom of the biggest circle and glue the button in the middle of the smallest circle.
Open the hair clip and put glue on the whole top part. Glue it to the back of your flower so that the clip is hidden by one of the leaves and the flower.

As you can tell it really doesn't matter what color your clip is because you wont be able to see it!

For the second flower we'll just be using an alligator clip instead of a normal hair clip. You'll need ribbon to cover the alligator clip, I like to use a cream colored ribbon. And you'll need that little piece of  non-slip foam to glue inside the clip so that the clip wont fall out of our little girls fine hair.
Assemble your flower just like the first flower but you can choose to glue to leaves a bit further apart for this one.
Then glue the ribbon onto the alligator clip. I hope the pictures are clear enough...

Then glue the little foam piece, I dont use the glue gun for this, for some reason it just doesn't stick well so I glue it down with a clear all purpose glue.
Then just glue the flower to the top of the alligator clip, I wanted the clip to stick out a bit otherwise I would have used a simple hair clip. Enjoy!
I have another kind that I'm working on, I'll post about it soon!

Family sign makeover

One of the first things I did when we moved to this apartment was redo our family sign from our old apartment. It used to be dark brown and green which I was really into a year ago but now I love whites and pastels.

I really like how it turned out, I'm loving the shabby chic look everyone is into at the moment...my husband is the only one hindering me from painting all our furniture antic white:) Thanks for stopping by!

shutters...or cupboard doors?

I finally made something to fill this big white wall!

I'd seen a lot of people using old shutters to decorate their homes so when I saw these cupboard doors at the store I knew what they'd be perfect for:) I painted them my favorite gray brown varnish and hung them up on the wall. I soon noticed that there was still too much white space around the shutters so I quickly made two small shelves for candles.
I had everything I needed in my wood stash, I didn't even need to cut anything!
I just glued my two pieces together using wood glue.

and then used the same varnish that used for the shutters to paint them. Once they were dry my husband helped hang them up on the wall. The candles need a bit of vinyl I think, I'll have to get to work again:)

I found that gorgeous wreath at the hobby store a couple months back and couldn't wait to hang it up on the shutters. I didn't make the wreath myself because sometimes living here it is hard to find supplies and it would have cost me a lot more to make it myself.
Enjoy!

Picture wall and monogram plaque

As promised here are the next pictures of our redecorated living room. We finally bought a piano after being married for almost 7 years, it's especially sad because my husband is a good piano player and has barely had the chance to play since we got married. But the waiting is finally over:) We decided to put it here, right next to our big windows that bring in a lot of light, we had to move our sideboard into the hallway and I still dont know what I'm going to do with it there.

We finally put up family pictures in our apartment and I think this is the perfect spot for them.

Here's a closer look of the monogrammed plaque from the picture above. This was a simple project thanks to my silhouette SD.
I cut three pieces of wood, I used what I had in the house and used two different sizes of wood so I could get the plaque size that I wanted.
Once they were glued I varnished them with this awesome grayish brown wood varnish which I love because it looks like I used old pallet wood to make this sign.
I had my silhouette cut out the design that I found on the online store and I added the 'T' for our last name. I filled in the stencil with antic white.
The lines aren't perfect but that's the way I wanted it:)
I love our new family frame wall!
Some of these pictures are over a year old and I haven't had the time to take better pictures so these will be staying for now!

Easter decorations....update

A little over a month ago I wrote a post about the blue eggs that I had painted for Easter and how I used them to decorate our dining room, this week I had a creative burst and redecorated our dining room and living room. In this post I just want to show the Easter related decorations we have in our home before Easter is over:)
I decided to use different branches for hanging the eggs.
This isn't a great picture, I'm actually trying to show the bird cage on the right that I bought in Italy 2 weeks ago.
I added some straw and a few eggs as well as a few branches sticking out from the top.
I made a cute tray for our dinning room table and added a blue egg on a plate for Easter and I love decorating with candles in our home:)

The tray was super simple to make I glued three identical pieces of wood together to make a rectangle and I cut molding to make a frame which I made separately and then glued on top of the rectangle. I just added a coat of antic white and that's it!
